Tariffs are just the weapon that Trump has that he feels he can use over and over again against any country that puts their own interests above Trump's. Trump is proving that striking a tariff-induced trade deal with the U.S. is pointless because Trump will use tariffs again for non-trade related wants. The world is learning that they can't trust trade deals with the U.S. to be honored.
